Shallow Data Limits Informed Decisions: The legacy creator profiles offered only surface-level data—follower counts, basic demographics, and scattered content—leaving marketers with an incomplete picture of a creator’s true potential. This superficial snapshot makes it challenging to understand audience dynamics, past campaign performance, and the strategic fit of an influencer for a brand.

Missed Opportunities in Creator Evaluation: Without access to comprehensive performance metrics, content analytics, and nuanced audience insights, marketers struggle to predict a creator’s effectiveness. The absence of a robust relationship management tool further complicates collaboration, as key contextual information, such as past brand partnerships and engagement trends, remains hidden.

While the users were happy with the release of Creator Search and VizSearch, they began to realize how limited our legacy creator profile was when they opened up a creator profile from the search results. The users only had access to the very surface level of the creator data such as their follower count, self-reported demographic data, and content. It was impossible to see who the creator’s audience is, to understand who the creator is working with, and most importantly to predict how the creator would perform during a campaign.

The new profile strives to give users the opportunity to have a comprehensive view of the creator and see their performance history, content insights, and audience demographics without leaving the platform. Moreover, the creator relationship management tool in the new profile would allow users to bring in their own insights and fill in the gap.
Process
What Were the Users Saying?
1.
Navigation Complexity

Users struggle with a poorly designed information architecture and clunky user flow, making it difficult to quickly access critical insights.

2.
CRM Feature Shortcomings

Marketers lack CRM tools to leave reviews, notes, and track email communications, missing a centralized relationship management experience like HubSpot and Salesforce.

3.
Missing Brand Insights

Marketers cannot easily identify a creator’s past brand collaborations or assess recent competitor partnerships, making it challenging to evaluate potential conflicts.

4.
Lack of Benchmarking

Marketers cannot benchmark creators against one another or analyze content performance trend, limiting their ability to contextualize performance within the broader influencer landscape.

5.
Insufficient Data Points

Creator profiles display only basic metrics, missing deeper insights such as audience demographics, sentiment analysis, and content performance indicators.

6.
Inefficient Content Discovery

The profile non-intuitive layout requires multiple clicks to access the creator's content and work samples. In addition, it is possible to search for content within a creator's profile.

    Value
Why Are We Building This Now?
Influencer marketing is no longer just about posting pretty pictures or having a large number of followers on social media. It has evolved into a carefully calculated game that strives to maximize the creator’s relevance and resonance based on their performance data, audience demographics, and content strategy.

The legacy profile was only able to provide information that was available on the creator’s social network and is slowly lagging behind our competitors in areas such as performance metrics, audience insights, and content analytics.

The first goal of the new profile is to bring in machine learning and surface additional creator insights that would help the marketers make informed decisions during influencer selection. The second goal is to make the platform more sticky by building out a comprehensive creator relationship management tool that allows the marketers to use the platform as a collaboration tool within their organization and have a centralized place to share what they know about each individual creator.

    What's Next
    Similar Creators
In the current user flow, users find creators they want to work with through search. They search with a keyword or filter, then click to open all the creator profiles they are interested in. It would save so much time if they can just find one creator they love, and see a list of similar creators.
    Exportable Profiles
Users often need to present to their own clients who don't have access to the platform. Exportable profiles would allow them to share the profiles off-platform and to build their presentation decks more efficiently.
    More Data and Insights
Currently the creator profile is doing a great job at gathering and presenting first-layer data, such as their performance metrics and audience demographics. In future, we should put more data science effort behind our data sets to help our users align their campaign objectives with their influencer selections.
    Public Profile
In the current design, creator profiles are gated behind a monthly marketplace subscription. Creating a public-facing and slimmed down version of the creator profile would be a great way for IZEA to generate more leads. New users would land on the public profiles via Google search, and they be prompted to subscribe to our software to unlock the full creator profile.
